Highland Industries has an immediate need for a Lab Technician I to work with our Product Quality team.
The Laboratory Tech conducts physical and chemical testing, as well as other laboratory tests, while following well-defined written Quality Work instructions, (QWI's) and procedures.
The position is located within our Manufacturing facility laboratory, at the Cheraw SC, Industrial Fabrics Plant.
It is a Third Shift position with work hours from 12:
00am to 8:
00am.
At this time, the department is working 40 hours per week average with the possibility of weekend work.
We are customer order driven facility and hours/number of days can change.
Summary:
In this position, the job duties seldom require alterations or deviations in testing procedures.
Tests are usually performed on a production basis with well-defined procedures for identifying non-conformances based on product specifications and other requirements defined by manufacturing or technical.
The outcome could affect the fit, form, or function of the final product.
The Laboratory Technician I will be responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis of yarn, fabric, and chemicals in a manner conducive to producing accurate and efficient test results.
Reporting these results promptly and performing other laboratory procedures as instructed is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Must work safely, follow all plant safety and work rules, attend required safety training and report any/all accidents and incidents immediately.
Must have excellent vision (Vision Check with Nurse is required) Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
You must have previous lab experience, analytical/problem solving skills, computer skills, data entry, and attention to detail.
Must be capable of passing the Lab Proficiency test.
Basic knowledge of Database software, basic Microsoft and manufacturing software.
The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedural manuals is essential.
Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume is required and recommended.
An understanding the basic concepts of algebra and geometry is preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to handle, or feel various yarns, woven and non-woven goods.
Extended work hours and weekends are sometimes required to support manufacturing, new program development, and special projects.
Education and/or
Experience:
One-year certificate from college or a technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software, basic Microsoft and manufacturing software.
PLEASE NOTE:
Taking and passing a lab competency test is required to qualify for the position.
The test will be administered during the interview.
Language Skills:
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Demonstrated ability to write routine reports and correspondence is essential.
Fluent English is required to speak effectively before groups, customers, or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume is recommended.

Reasoning Ability:
